Robert Redford is one of the speakers at the opening of the World Tourism Summit in Mexico

From 16 to 18 May 2012 in Mexico  maintains the “Regional Summit” World Tourism Council WTTC. The summit will talk key figures from the tourism industry and the public and private sectors, NGOs and the media. The event will be the first in a series organized by the WTTC and will explore the challenges of the tourism industry in America.Robert Redford, a Hollywood legend, along with Roberto Hernandez Ramirez Chairman of the Board of Banco Nacional de Mexico are the latest in a long line of distinguished speakers who will speak at the summit WTTC.They will be joined by tourism ministers from around the world, including the Secretary Gloria Guevara from Mexico, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State and the UN Secretary-General for Tourism, transport operators and tour operators, travel agencies and representatives of key people from the media, such as Peter Greenberg Travel editor of CBS’s. Summit theme is “Travel and Tourism: Creating new jobs and prosperity.” Lectures will cover the trends shaping the future of the industry, collaboration between public and private sectors, increase growth and ease visa restrictions for travel to promote the building of a sustainable future and create jobs. The tourism industry plays a significant role in the American economy where the state is 9 percent of annual gross domestic product and employs 2.5 million people.
